North East water company's continued expansion (December 2004)
Seaton Spring Limited, a spring water bottler and coder distributor in County Durham and a member of Northumbria Larder, has increased its bottling production capacity fivefold.
The company, known mainly for its own-brand production and distribution, is intending to enter the 19-titre contract packaging market.
Seaton Spring says it is now capable of filling 250 bottles an hour with its" pure, rock-filtered water from beneath the Durham countryside."
The expansion in production capacity is part of a larger development that also involves new company offices, warehoushg and other production fadlrties. It is expected to be completed in early 2005.
Seaton Spring was assisted h its expansion efforts by a grant from the Department of Trade and Industry, according to Andy Qrantham, sales and marketing manager for the company.
Audits by the Bottled Water Cooter Association (BWCA), of its member bottlers, are done on an annual basis. This year Seaton Spring will receive another Gold award, achieving over 99 per cent on their most recent audit" We are now in the posrtion of being able to enter the 18.9 litre contract bottling market, and to offer our award-winning facilities to other cooler companies nationally,' Andy added, referring to the company's recent high scores on its first three production audits.
As part of its latest expansion, Seaton Spring intends to double the number of production staff over the coming year.
