RECOGNISING THE MERITS OF OLEIFERA RAPESEED OIL
(November 2007)

Oleifera Rapeseed Oil, which is produced and packaged in the Borders, has been given a stamp of approval by The Vegetarian Society of the UK, as the first British-produced rapeseed oil to carry the society’s Seedling Symbol Trademark.

The seedling showcase is a new initiative by the society, which is the world’s oldest vegetarian society, and Oleifera is now listed on its website as an approved product.

Because of the health benefits that rapeseed oil has to offer and its culinary versatility, there has been a significant growth in the demand for Oleifera, and its recognition by The Vegetarian Society should do much to further its sales growth.

Lisa Wilson, marketing manager for Oleifera, says it has half the saturated fat of olive oil and three times as much omega 3. It can be used in a wide range of ways in the kitchen, from dressing a salad, cooking and roasting, to baking cakes.

The company’s website, www.oleifera.co.uk, contains some very tasty recipes and with Christmas on the horizon you will find a topical recipe for a Christmas pudding presented in appetising detail.

More public praise for the company came its way this month when it captured a top award from the Design Business Association in the packaging food and drink sector of its annual awards. Oleifera’s prize was a Silver 2007 Design Effectiveness Award. The award not only recognises good design but brings global recognition to the company for its product. The NE6 design consultancy were responsible for Oleifera’s distinctive slim bottle with a bold, modern and classic label.

Oleifera is available through specialist food outlets and delicatessens throughout the UK and via mail order from its website.
