Honey,
a natural food containing trace elements of vitamins and minerals,
has long been known as a source of instant energy as it is
easily and quickly digested. Because the Honey Farm apiaries
are situated in different locations, they have a variety of
honey from different floral sources, including heather honey
from the Scottish and Northumberland moors. There are 1500
hives of bees situated at Tweedside. There is also an interesting
visitor centre.
There
are several different kinds of honey: Clear, aromatic, heather
and clover honey, available in a variety of pots and jars.
Comb honey is also available and honey mustard too is made
on the farm. The honey mustard combines a high proportion
of honey with either whole grain or powdered mustard, wine
and wine vinegar, without the addition of water. The inclusion
of garlic or herbs widens the choice.
A
wide range of pure beeswax candles is available, each with
a pleasing aroma and a clear flame to give a mellow light.
High quality beeswax polish for preserving fine furniture
and leather is another popular line. Propolis ointment, and
a wide range of hand and face creams and soap have also been
developed at The Honey Farm.
