Welcome to Northumbria Larder. Northumbria Larder is the regional Food & Drink group for the North East of England. It is a group of fine food & drink producers who form a distinctive addition to the many attractions of the region from the Scottish Border, through Northumberland, Tyne & Wear and County Durham to the Tees Valley.

As one of the partners involved in organising the Wallington Food and Craft Festival, Northumbria Larder has produced a cookbook containing over twenty recipes. Most of the dishes have been cooked by top North East chefs on the Northumbria Larder demonstration kitchen at past events across the region, and recipes include Craster Salad, Northumbrian Lamb with Berry Sauce and White Chocolate and Raspberry Cheesecake.

The book also includes three very special recipes that have been taken from an 18th Century recipe book written by a past housekeeper at Wallington. Published in 1772, Mary Smith’s book entitled “The Complete House-keeper and Professed Cook. Calculated For the Greater Ease And Assistance of Ladies, House-keepers, Cooks, etc. etc.” contains all the things a house-keeper would need to know, ranging from how to pluck and prepare a pheasant, to making ice cream. We hope the three recipes included in our cookbook give you an insight into the life of an 18th Century house-keeper!

All the profits from the sale of the book will go towards making the Wallington Food and Craft festival sustainable for future years.
To order your copy please send a cheque for £2.50 made out to 'Northumbria Larder' to Ground Floor, Beaufront Park, Anick Road, Hexham, Northumberland NE46 4TU.

The aim of Northumbria Larder is to encourage, support and develop the aspirations of its members to produce the finest food and drink the region can offer, not only for local consumption but for a wider national and international audience. Find out more about our region here.

Northumbria Larder’s arrival has been warmly welcomed by tourism bodies, individual hotels and B&B’s, the Regional Development Agency One NorthEast, good food shops and deli’s, and restaurateurs keen to provide visitors with local food of such character and quality they will always remember the experience. It may be a late comer to the formal regional Food & Drink group providers in England, but it represents the keepers of a long and honourable tradition of making some of the finest food to be found anywhere in the country. We hope you enjoy visiting our web site.
